Organizing Gists

Pinning Gists

You can pin frequently used Gists for quick access. There are several ways to pin a Gist:

  • Use the "Pin/Unpin" option from the menu
  • Swipe the Gist cell in the list to reveal the pin action
  • Right-click the Gist and select "Pin/Unpin" from the context menu

Pinned Gists sync across devices via CloudKit.

Collections

  • Create custom collections to group related Gists
  • Drag and drop Gists into collections
  • Collections are stored locally and sync via CloudKit

Basic Operations

Editing Gists

  • Select a Gist from the list to view it in the detail pane
  • Edit content directly if you have permission:
    • Your own created Gists can be edited
    • Forked Gists can be edited
    • Starred Gists from others are read-only
  • Changes are automatically saved locally
  • Use "Save to GitHub" to sync changes

Deleting Gists

  • Select one or multiple Gists
  • Use the delete button or keyboard shortcut
  • Confirm deletion (this action cannot be undone)

Star Operations

You can star important Gists for reference. To star/unstar a Gist:

  • Use the "Star/Unstar" option from the menu
  • Swipe the Gist cell in the list to reveal the star action
  • Right-click the Gist and select "Star/Unstar" from the context menu

Version Management

Reverting Changes

The "Revert Changes" feature allows you to discard local modifications and restore the Gist to match the GitHub version:

  • Select the Gist you want to revert
  • Choose "Revert Changes" from the menu
  • Local changes will be immediately discarded and content will be restored to match the GitHub version

Filtering Gists

Scope Filtering

Use the Scope Filter to view:

  • All Gists
  • Public Gists only
  • Secret Gists only

Language Filtering

  • Filter Gists by programming language
  • Multiple language selection available
  • Clear filters to show all Gists
